The project “Let’s give shelter to talents“, was born during the academic year 2015/2016, against the background of the so-called European refugee crisis.

The University of Pavia, first in Italy and among the first in Europe, thus welcomed, in collaboration with the former SPRAR Central Service, 15 students with international protection, offering them the opportunity to attend a three-year degree course or a master’s degree course, with total exemption of all university fees for the legal duration of the path of study, also offering free accommodation, for the same period, at the Edisu Colleges and Colleges of merit.

Since the following academic year, the Bracco Foundation has supported the initiative with a contribution of 50,000 euros.

The project is aimed at young people, in particular women, hosted within the Siproimi territorial projects, who:

  • have been granted the recognition of refugee or subsidiary protection status

  • are holders of a high school diploma (which can also be attested by self-certification, in the case of  obvious impossibility of exhibiting the original qualifications), without prejudice to the University’s right to carry out all the checks aimed at verifying the possession of the qualification and / or adequate initial preparation

  • have a good knowledge of Italian and English language (if the chosen study course is held in that language)

  • are over the age of 18

The project is aimed at offering the selected candidates free enrolment in university degree courses, room and board in university colleges, access to libraries and computer rooms for the duration of their studies, support of university tutors and a monthly pocket money.
